I live in a town where it doesn’t rain very much and it snows about a couple of inches every year. I’m thinking about getting a motor scooter because it would save me a lot of money. I’m looking at getting a Honda Ruckus. My question is how bad does the weather have to get before I can’t ride it anymore? I don’t mind the elements too much, just I don’t want to ride when I am in serious danger.

I have the temperature, dew point, barometric pressure, wind speed and direction, cloud cover, and precipitation for 3 days for a particular location. How can I use these to make a well-educated and justified weather prediction for the next day?

The storm is not even in the gulf yet but they are projecting a direrct hit on New Orleans. How do they know it will not turn east or west? Has a storm’s ultimate path ever been predicted with any accuracy this early?
Considering the unpredictability of storm paths, it’s almost as if the weather service has received word from other sources besides meteorlogical to show such confidence in Gustav’s destination. Of course I don’t want to sound conspiratorial. But I wonder why this one like Katrina has a Russian name.
